goop Project
Rosewood Miramar Hotel and Resort
Santa Barbara, California
Project Completion: March 2019
Project Manager: Joel Benjamin
When the Bysun Building team was first contacted by Gywneth Paltrow’s goop brand to build out their latest brick and mortar shop in the highly anticipated 5-star Rosewood Miramar Hotel, the stakes were high. The hotel was scheduled to open in 8 weeks and any delay in the building of the goop shop would mean a delay in the opening of the whole resort.
With this in mind the Bysun team arrived at that first meeting with everything prepared to hit the ground running. The goop project management team was presented with a bid, project schedule, samples, and a list of requests for information with dates needed to complete the project on time. In fact, labor-intensive shop drawings for 700 SF of custom cabinetry and wall paneling were begun before a contract had even been signed. The goop project management team would later reveal that after reaching out to 15 contractors, the choice was clear, Bysun Building would build goop.
- custom cabinetry, wall paneling and mouldings
- hidden storage compartments
- premium recessed lighting, cabinet lighting, and sconces
- invisible speakers
- custom starphire glass and mirrors
- luxury high-gloss lacquer finish

In order to ensure deadlines could be met, the Bysun Building team kept in constant communication with Caruso executives and worked in cooperation with their construction crews building out the rest of the hotel. Constant reordering and tweaking of the schedule was necessary to hit project milestones amid dozens of on-the-fly design modifications and changing requirements from the hotel at large.
Ultimately the goop project was completed on budget and ahead of schedule to a level of finish equaling the very finest interior spaces. The Caruso team, having witnessed the Bysun Building process and final product first-hand, hired Bysun Building directly to assist in putting the finishing touches on the rest of the hotel.
